Calgary-based Cococo Chocolatiers awarded six medals at this years National Chocolate Competition.

Chocolatiers taste big success with six awards for their handcrafted confections.

 

Calgary-based Cococo Chocolatiers, owners of Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut® (Cococo) are happy to announce six awards for its chocolate products at this years Canadian National chocolate competition, held in Toronto.

 

Cococo has participated in the awards since 2012, and has taken home numerous Canadian and International awards throughout the years for its quality, couverture and now sustainable chocolate creations. "What we enjoy most at Cococo is the collaborative team effort involving several master chocolatiers, other talented culinary experts, and some of the biggest chocolate lovers around. We all get together to share ideas and help fine-tune concepts," says Marketing Director Kristen Halpen. "And there’s always lots of tasting, which is part of the joy of working at a chocolate factory!"

 

This year awards were presented for five new and one traditional chocolate.  The five new varieties that took home medals include Cococo’s Dill Fusion Tablette, Alaea Mint, Maple Buttertart, Matcha Citrus, and Bee Pollen Gianduja.  The traditional bonbon that they entered was their Coconut, enhanced this year with a touch of natural lime.

 

These new chocolates can be found at Cococo’s Victoria Park location at 1313 1st St SE in Calgary for those that wish to add these award winners to their copper boxes now. "We plan to develop a unique award winning collection of chocolates to sell at all our stores in the near future so customers across Canada and the US can gift these unique award winners and enjoy at home," says Halpen.  "People are very loyal to our traditional lineup of chocolates, but love to see new flavours from us and we are dedicated to only offering the very best." 

 

Cococo will go on to represent Canada on the world stage at the International Chocolate Competition in London, UK.

The International Chocolate Awards is an independent competition recognizing excellence in fine chocolate making and in products made with fine chocolate. Founded in 2012, they are the world’s only fully independent international fine chocolate competition.
